What are the prospects for the opening of European markets this season after the ban on the import of grain into some EU countries
Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia became alternative transit routes for Ukrainian grain exports after the full-scale Russian invasion and blockade of Black Sea ports.
However, back in April, they announced the destabilization of domestic agricultural markets due to agricultural products from Ukraine, which are supposed to transit to third countries, but often remained inside the country through which exports took place.
Subsequently, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria and Slovakia banned the import of agricultural products originating from or imported from the territory of Ukraine into their territory.
However, this ban is due to end on September 15, but the countries will ask the European Union to extend the ban on imports of Ukrainian grain and other agricultural products at least until the end of this year. Ukraine, taking into account its size and everything it produces and exports to Europe, loads the market.
However, the restrictions were slightly reduced and the EU promised to gradually lift the ban. Therefore, we are waiting for the decision of the EU regarding further actions with the import of Ukrainian products.
