What to expect from the new season of road transportation in Ukraine

As the new road transport season approaches in Ukraine, the logistics industry is preparing for an important stage that promises great opportunities and challenges.

Since the transportation of goods by sea and railway transport has its limitations, the domestic market of transport services began to give priority to road transport for the transportation of goods, and carriers were forced to change the logistics of export transportation and direct cargo to western border crossings.

If we talk about challenges, the main question will arise with the new season – how to survive with the increase in fuel prices? Today, fuel prices continue to rise, and the market expects further increases in fuel and diesel prices at gas stations. Therefore, such events and price increases can become a challenge for most logistics companies.

It can also be noted that there is still a struggle on the western border with traffic jams and the capacity of checkpoints.

Land corridors through European countries will become new export routes for most logistics companies. They can be conditionally divided into two global directions: the western transport corridor to Poland, Germany and the Baltic countries and the southern transport corridor mostly to Romania.

Another opportunity for Ukraine is the development of fast logistics in the western direction.

According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the development of border infrastructure is planned. In particular, networks of automobile checkpoints.

Joint customs and border control with EU countries is also planned. That is, there will be one checkpoint where representatives of both states will work. In this way, we achieve greater integration into the European space, speed up logistics, and minimize corruption.
