The European Parliament supported “transport visa-free” with Ukraine

Ukrainian driver’s licenses will not need to be exchanged for international licenses.

On Thursday, November 10, the European Parliament by an overwhelming majority of votes approved the Agreement on freight transportation by road with Ukraine, which is also called “transport visa-free”.

This was announced on the official website of the European Parliament.

586 MEPs voted for this document, only one was against it.

The agreement abolishes the need for Ukrainian carriers to obtain appropriate permits for two-way and transit transportation in EU states and allows to avoid stopping the export of Ukrainian products through road checkpoints.

In addition, the agreement allows Ukrainian drivers to use valid driver’s licenses without the need to obtain international rights.

• The agreement entered into force on June 29 and is valid until June 30, 2023, with the possibility of extension.
  After the decision of the European Parliament, the document still has to be approved by the Council of the EU.
• We will remind, on September 16 of this year, Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a decree approving the agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on freight transportation by road.
